I have not asked this question of Zenith, and I know that is where the definitive answer needs to come from, but what is the list’s opinion of using a Ch-750 firewall forward on a Ch-701 with an O-200 Continental.

Regards,

Perry Delano

A very simple answer Perry, DON'T
The 750 firewall is substantially different than the 701. Additionally, the 701 has a max recommended firewall weight of 200 lbs and the O-200 is around 240lbs. Can a O-200 be made to fly a 701?  Sure but it is not going to come close to the performance of a 701 with a 912 installed. If price is a consideration, there are good used 912 engines to be found, it just takes a bit of scrounging.

Hi Doug,As always thanks for the reality check. The thought hit me as I am a member of CH85 RAA and member of the builders group and we are building a 750 cruiser as a club plane and planning on an 0-200.Regards,PerrySent wirelessly from my BlackBerry device on the Bell network.Envoyé sans fil par mon terminal mobile BlackBerry sur le réseau de Bell.

Perry, I  am in the final stages of building my 701 with  C-85-12F.  W&B looks great.  My engine was 207 lb after putting a skytek starter and B&C alternator. My empty weight was 667 lbs.  Hope to be inspected and flight testing soon. There are s lot of 701 examples with Continental engines and they fly just fine..keep it trim.
