Dumb question for those of you with Doug Sapps SS air filter on a Yak 52: when you change out the desiccant does all of the air from your air tank get expelled when you disconnect the filter? Im trying to figure out if I'm having a senior moment or I screwed something up.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,
Before I give you a 'yes' or 'no' answer, I'll try to help you understand where the filter is in the system so you can draw your own conclusion.
The original Russian air filter was below the pop off valve on the firewall. Doug's filter essentially replaces the junk, Russian filter. The line from the output of the filter goes to a firewall bulkhead fitting and from there, directly back to the main air tank. There are no check valve between the bottom of the 'Cross' on the firewall (below the pop off valve) back to the main air tank. Thus, when you open any fitting, in the system between the bottom of the cross and the firewall, (this includes opening Doug's SS filter), what do you think happens?  Yep! You're right! The main air tank will bleed off until depleted.
Hope this helps.
Dennis
