I sadly report that it appears our old friend Nev

passed away this morning at an RC racing event.

It seems from witnesses that it was a medical event

and bystander and EMT resuscitation efforts were

unavailing.



A really terrible day for the world-wide Europa

community.

Neville?? shockingly terrible and sad!



My condolences to his family and the europa extended family that new him (i only knew him through this forum, and his many appearances in the various europa video media).



His many contributions to the europa will also be sadly missed.

He was with me at Sleap helping to fit his design of cowls on my Europa last weekend.

A sad loss for his family and the Europa comunity.

Nev Eyre, an inspiration to all in many ways. Without him we would not have the beautiful Europa we have today. Nev visited us at hone just 3 week ago to collect a canoe for a new adventure and look so well. Our thoughts with his family at this time.

What a massive loss.  Nev was my Inspector during the build and has been ever since.  He was the only person who I'd let touch G-LINN.  He used to pop in when he was passing and tell me about his latest efforts to get on The Jeremy Vine Show!  His ambition was finally achieved a couple of months ago when one of his posts was read out on the air.

He was a lovely chap and friend.

A sad day indeed! I had met Nev on numerous occasions at rallies and Europa events and he had come over as an affable humerous and knowledgeable guy. But with him working on my plane over the last six months I had come to know him much better and to see great qualities that were not apparent to casual observation. He was of course a superb craftsman producing a repair indistinguishable from new, but he was not content to simply repair the bits I told him were bent. On his own initiative he did such things as replace thefixings on the tailplane torque tube, replace fuel hoses, produce an inspection/access hatch opposite the fuel tap to get at those almost impossible joints, and much more. A real perfectionist but unlike some perfectionists he remained such a pleasant, easy to get on with guy.   

 

A very sad loss.

Indeed Nev had a sense of humor by telling me (as a technical layman), that I'd need a special hammer (which BTW he could supply for 100 GBP), to strike on the collar of the flap drive tube to get the pins engage better. He almost had me ordering it from him because I knew "if Nev said you need it, I wouldn't ask any questions".



Very sad News! My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I remember Nev drew the short straw so he had to drive the display truck with the crew to Oshkosh back in 98 or so. According to the police his driver log book for the truck wasn't up to par he needed to hang out in Tennessee for 8 hours. We were along his route so went and got him took him to our house. Had steak and a great meal my wife put on for him and the crew. My build was at 60% or so. Having Nev there to answer and point saved me countless hours on the build! A good kind man has been lost!! My sincere condolences to his family. Seems men like Nev always figured out a way to leave this world having fun! Way to go Nev!!! You'll be missed big time!!!!!

Nev did various jobs for me and most recently I fitted his design of engine bearer and cowls which are really beneficial to my aircraft. He 'phoned me only last week to ask about LAA paperwork matters and as always he was really enjoyable to talk with. I'll miss his good humour.

Very sad to hear that Neville passed away.  I first met him at the factory in 1994, when purchasing my Classic kit.  He gave me a lot of clear, practical advice then, and during the build in Kenya.  With his vast experience, he will be sorely missed by the Europa community.  My condolences to his family.

What a sad loss.  I can't say I knew him well. Met him in 1996 at Europa factory, Kirbymoorside and he was so enthusiastic and proud about the Europa aircraft. Very pragmatic, transparent and approachable. Always answered my request concerning the build. My condolences to Carol and the family.
