Hi

I have had a few PMs asking for pix of my wing root fuel filters. See the pix below.

Also, here is a link to the filters I used: https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/ear-230206erl/overview/

There is one in each wing root so that there is redundancy. Also, as the filters are light, I didn't tie them off to anything else. They seem quite happy inline with the -6 al tubing.

Cheers

Les

I would just be worried of vibrations over long term.

Hi

The vibration question is one that I considered. The filter is very light and so weight is not really a factor. The bends in the tubing allow movement so that should be okay. Between the B-Nut / filter / B-Nut there is nothing for vibration to affect.

I don't really see how the filter is that much different from an install without the filter. At least from a vibration perspective.

Cheers

My filter is in the tunnel, plumbed and sealed.  There hasn't been any fuel or contamination in it (still building).  I don't think it's wise to remove it and possibly alter the integrity of the system.  I'll just add the filters in the wing root and know I have a second filter for fuel to pass through.

I think I'm going to do this exact thing during my condition inspection in September.

Les,what was the reasoning for going with the 85 micron vs the 35 micron?

Did you weigh the fuel filters empty or with fuel in them?

The original installation has the filter clamped to the floor.

I used the wrong ling link in my earlier post. I do use the 35 micron filters. The correct link is:

Albert

You are quite right about the original location and the filters being attached to the floor.

All I can say is the filters / location / setup works for me. The tunnel location is difficult to access while the roots are easy to access. That makes more frequent checks / cleaning easier and therefore (IMHO) more likely.

Obviously I like my setup, otherwise I wouldn't do it this way. Others may not.

Cheers
