Finally got over January's pneumonia and the trauma of having my dentist mucking around up inside my sinus cavity and was able to get a little work done on the Firefly this weekend and today.

Used 1/4" steel tubing for the mounting brackets, ground down some 1/4" bolts with long threaded ends to slip up inside, added a washer and brazed them in. Other ends were some steel brackets with 1/4" tubing brazed on, used some good quality rubber fuel line to soak up the vibrations.

No rain or wind today, ran it for a half hour or so to verify that the jet size was right and the 277 wasn't going to spit it off, and then went flying. Seems to act a little pipey between 4650 and 5300, if you are around 4650 and give it a hair more throttle it climbs up to 5300, give it just a hair less and it settles back down to 4650. Refuses to stay at any given rpm setting in between. Thought maybe it was prop pitch, but full throttle in level flight it turns 6250, which is red line for the 277, so now I am thinking it is just not broken in yet. It probably has less than ten hours total, so I'll not worry about it.
Vibration was minimal above 5,000 a little worse around 4,650, flew 25 minutes and burned a half a gallon of fuel.

On a sort of semi related topic - when I first tried to make this post, the pictures showed up landscaped rather than portrait, they were both rotated 90 degrees to the left. Earlier I was going to to send the pictures to my partner in an email and they were turned sideways there also, did some research and found out why:
https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1194101

Short version: cell phone pictures may not always tell your computer which side of the picture ought to be up - and there are 2 ways to fix it. Open the picture in an editor like Irfanview, do something/anything with it and save it with a new name, or just use a real camera. Since we see this from time to time on the list, now we know there really is a reason.
