(Also - does nobody know how to edit/remove a whole boatload of previous/extraneous posts from their posts?

Im using an Android phone,     your milage may vary...

At the end of my post there are three dots "..."   When I tap the dots,  it expands the previous email.   If I long tap the first word I want removed, the word will highlight with a couple of drop down balloons.   Tap and hold the last baloon and drag it to the bottom, or where you want to delete,  then I hit the sisor icon at the top and cut it out.
Or
Don't hit reply,  just start a new thread using the same  message header. Or reference the old message by copying and pasting a few words from the old message.

What Boyd said, if you're using Gmail's web interface and get posts via email. That's what I'm using at the moment. I've bold-highlighted all the stuff that was in the 3 dots. If you're using the forum, it shouldn't be an issue unless you've set it to default to 'quote'.

That does raise a different issue. Example: I didn't see the original post for this thread (I get individual email delivery). If you use the forum or use 'digest' delivery, it's always helpful to include at least some context in your reply, or those of us using individual email delivery may not know what you're replying to.
