Hay Guys

I have gotten some hours on my very old freshly restore twinstar.

I have everything worked out except the left wing is heavy.

My flightstar has the same problem so maybe you can help me kill two birds .

I have put a trim tab on the left wing.

i bent the tab up and the problem got better so I bent it up some more but got no additional improvement .



How exactly does the trim tab work and should I have put it on the right wing?

any help would be greatly appriciated.

When I had my Mk III Classic, I had big washers in the rear attachment point of the left wing. There were two on one side of the wing spar, and one on the other side, within the u-shape receiver. By rearranging the double stack to one side or the other, I could adjust the roll trim for flying solo, or with a passenger. Don’t know if this will work for you, but it did for me..

The problem is your Kolbs have a trim issue. The factory makes an optional adjustable universal joint (this is the wing rear attach fitting) that I think Dave is talking about and this is the best fix for this problem.

Something to think about, if you try to raise a wing by lowering it's aileron, you will increase the drag of that wing. Which now adds another factor to the mix by having that side of the airplane want to create yaw.



IMO, if the left wing feels heavy, you are better off adding a downward deflected trim tab to the right wing aileron, raising the right wing aileron to push the right wing down a bit, and then adjust your aileron differential so that when the right aileron is up a hair, the left aileron is in line with the bottom of the left wing so as not to add extra drag to that side.



Anyway, it worked for me, and I made mine adjustable because things change a bit depending on if you are carrying a passenger.

Of course my plane is one of the early model ones but I am curious.

did the plans come with rigging instructions for these planes?
