Was looking at a video made during a flight close to sunset and I noticed on takeoff (before getting off the ground) a few quick flames shot out of the exhaust.

Is this normal or is it an indication of some lean condition? I am running a smaller acceleration jet.

On takeoff, the engine should be running rich to present that Orange glow. During cruise the flame should change to Blue. I used to adjust my carb by securing the tail loop (CJ) to a solid fence post at night and run up power to check exhaust color. That was manual lean, same principle works for adjustment of M-14P carb.
The Blue flame is more pronounced on a T-6 at night, glorious color.
