Does anyone know what kind of material is used for the canvas cover of
Kitfoxes and Avid Flyers? Is it Ceconite?

I am asking because I have found small holes in my aircraft and would
like to patch them up.

Thanks.

Hi George,

Mine was Ceconite (1992 Kitfox Model 4) which used the Stitts Poly Fiber system for adhesive and cover.
I think Stitts and Ceconite are similar. Flew it today, about 525 hours on Subaru EA81.

I f you're going to use Stitts covering, I would recommend Poly Tone paint as it is easy to patch and repair.
I used System 3 paint and its very hard to patch properly.

Did mine with Stitts Poly Fiber and the Poly Tone paints worked great and pretty easy! Good luck!

Hi Kirby,

Thank you for your reply. I will check if my plane uses the Stitts covering.

I see that your Kitfox makes use of a Subaru engine. Was it easy to
install? How does your Kitfox perform with this engine?

Hi George,

My Kitfox 4 flys well with the NSI EA81 Subaru.
I cruise at 95 MPH at 4000 RPM. Fuel burn is a little over 4 GPH.
I build it in 1993 and have about 535 trouble-free hours on it so far.
About 40 pounds heavier than a Rotax 912. I'm not aware of anyone making the Subaru conversion anymore.
Here is a link to a YouTube video on my motor:
