Sorry Jam-n,

I did not intend to minimize the seriousness of the "incident".
Perhaps the use of the word "calamity" would have been more appropriate.

Here are some dictionary definitions for your clarification.

ca‧lam‧i‧ty

- a great misfortune or disaster,
in·ci·dent

- A definite and separate occurrence; an event.
- Something contingent on or related to something else.
- An occurrence or event that interrupts normal procedure or
precipitates a crisis:

no, its not an issue of denotative or conotative definitions... its just
what is most appropriate in aviation communications. that's all. Smile an
incident carrys one definition and an accident another relative to
seriousness. as u suggested perhaps an incident lead to an accident
which sadly included the two fatals. ie, a dent in the leading edge may
be an incident... a ground loop produced an accident... ie, for example
the pilot had 3 incidents of record and 2 accidents... etc. not all
accidents include fatals. but usally all fatals resulted from an
accident.

the visuals of this accident are shocking... i always wonder why an a/c
that will fly with enough airspeed impacts nose down...

i have tried to fly with no elevator input... flippers as they say in
"stick n rudder'... and in all cases of power and ailerons... soon enuff
the a/c was uncontrolable and oscillating out of control... i do wonder
why this kolb crashed as it did...

always so sad and startling... for ' any '... young, old or bold pilot.

regards

jg
