I'm looking for missed details before I start riveting the side skins on
the fuselage. One thing I can't find is the path of the static line
through the seat back bulkhead (705?) & forward to the instrument panel.
The area just under the main longeron looks pretty busy at F705 & I
can't find any notes on where the line should be routed after the middle
of the baggage compartment. What am I missing?

Thanks,

Charlie

I routed mine through the elevator push rod tunnel then split it left and
right to make a balanced vent behind the baggage compartment. As far as I
remember there is no drawing for this.

You route that forward just along/below the longerons on the pilot side of
the plane. There are some holes already opened for you to route the line
through. Indiana Larry

There is an article in the RVator (1st issue, 2006) detailing how and where
to rout the line through the cabin. The only hole you will need to add is
the one in the F-704 seatback bulkhead. They recommend drilling a hole
under the longeron just big enough to pass the plastic static tubing
through. No bushing is required. If I remember correctly, the other holes
are already punched in the ribs from Van's. The punched holes are the
correct size for bushings.

Dangit. I'm nearing the end of fuse construction (or so I tell myself), and
that's been gnawing at me for a while. I just figured a logical answer would
avail itself in the directions on the finishing kit... You would think that
such an obvious glitch would have been addressed after the first 3 rv7's
were built? Oh well.

So I just looked at the drawings. See dwg 20. There is a tooling hole of
some sort on the 705-E-L/R side doublers, which you can see looking at the
bulkead from the rear. The hole is conveniently located between two rivets
and just below the thick angle used in tip-ups on that junction. I think
I'm going to drill that hole out for the static line. I don't like the idea
of drilling through the support angle nearer the tip up latch mechanisms and
the few rivets on that angle...

I'm going to wait till after I'm done with the canopy mechanisms before I
commit. Till then, what have other tip-uppers done?

I just went with the location in the article. And drilled.

Do not archive

Don
Watch out using that tooling hole as it might interfere with your canopy
latch mechanism.
I drilled a 1/4' hole thro the angle near the top and to the side so as to
keep the line more or less straight

Trevor
