Kolbers -
Several months ago, ANR headsets were discussed on the List, and I
detected overall positive reports about the DRE-6000. Well, I finally
decided to buy one, only to discover that this headset is no longer
offered at Aircraft Spruce, or at Tropic Aero. (Price was listed as
$299.)
Anybody know where I can still get one of these?
Many thanks -
Dennis Kirby

Dennis, for what it's worth, if you can't find a DRE-6000, I highly recommend the Lightspeed 25XL. Lightspeed had a yearend $50 off special on their reconditioned 25XL headset... ended 12/31. I bought one for $300... a $600 headset new. You can't tell it from brand new, it was tested to new specs, new everything that is replaceable like ear pieces, mike cover, carry bag, etc and it came with a year warranty. It is an amazing headset! It is really comfy and when you press the ANR button, quiet is the word! It is a top of the line quality looking and performing headset in every way. When I called Lightspeed they had to make one up for me so it took a few days before they shipped it, but I was in no big hurry and shipping was only $5!! Lightspeed replaced this model with the 30/3G a few years ago so the 25XL is no longer in production. I asked them about getting support for the 25XL in the future and they said that is no problem for at least 5-6 years and most likely a lot longer. They sold a ton of these to airline pilots so they will be around a long time. They have a nice battery saving feature if you forget to turn off the ANR, it turns itself off. 2 AA batteries last a long time.... probably 6-9 months at the rate I fly.
Good luck!!
