Guys,
I need some help to make the wing root fairings. Can you describe how the pieces are shaped and attached? Does the piece that covers the top of the flap have a lip turned up and attach to the fuselage? I found two pictures that sort of show but I can’t tell for sure.
Almost done in De Soto,

Dan, I made the top fairing out of fiberglass and the bottom section is aluminum. My wings are aluminum so this may not be entirely applicable but may provide food for thought.
The top was made by filling the gap between the fuselage and the wing and laying glass in place. I think I used some cardboard and metal tape to provide the rough shape.
The top fastenes to the fairing structure over the cabin top. I used square aluminum tubing and so drilled and tapped it for 6-32 screws. The outboard side screws to platenuts installed on the root rib flange. The bottom fastens to a couple of brackets riveted to the aluminum panel over the door. I also made a standoff at the rear to allow something to fasten the rear inboard section of the top fairing to. It rivets to the bottom fairing and extends to the underside of the top.
Hope some of this helps a bit. I will try to get some pictures of this taken and post them in the next day or so.

Hey Bill... If ever there was a post that REALLY NEEDED some pictures,
it's this one. Hahahahaha..... I tried really hard to follow you but
even I got lost. I know it would take about an hour or so but some
pictures and some text would really help Dan out... And Dan, are you
not located near Olathe anymore?

Thanks Bill, the photos help.
WE layed up fiberglass yesterday on the top where there is more of a
compound shape. We will attach the lower aluminum pieces in a similar manner
to yours.
