I have not installed my lights yet, but when I do I am planning on putting the taxi light in one wing, and the landing light in the opposite wing.  My thinking is, on a dark ramp at night, one could turn on the landing light momentarily to check for any "hidden" objects.

 This  also allows you to install a wig-wag module to increase your visibility in  the air.
