Ground it locally---no need to run a long return.

is it ok to ground the landing and taxi light directly
to the wind spar, or do i need to run a wire to a
ground bus
thanks in advance. also thanks to all re my question
of putting the lights on the right wing and moving
them inboard a little

For simple lighting circuits, grounding to the airframe will work just fine. Put some No-Ox compound on the connection to prevent corosion.
