I have it on a nearby rib so it's accessible by removing
the wingtip. On one hand, it's nice to have access to it,
but on the other, you really hopefully won't need to have
access to it. So it's worth making it convenient, without
going overboard and trying to make it ultra-convenient,
unless you can do it without a lot of effort.
I'd avoid the extra wing access panel if possible. I didn't
have the best of fun putting in the one for the stall warning.
Those skins can be prone to oil canning if your doubler
plate install doesn't go in just perfectly. I had to add
stiffners around my stall warning doublers.

I am thinking about the installation of my Gretz pitot and have some
questions. I have installed the mount in the 2nd from the tip bay as
others have done and suggested by Gretz as the optimum location. I am
curious about future access to the electronic control module. It has
to be fairly close to the tube and I am wondering where others are
mounting it. Has anyone put an additional access panel in the wing in
that area? [Question]

I mounted mine on the inboard face of the rib that is just OUTboard of the access panel. Used nutplates. The built in metal standoffs seem to be fine.
If any one has me in their address book I've changed my email in anticipation of a move.

David,
I have the Gretz tube mounted in the same bay as you. I bolted the electronic control module on to the spar web in the outboard most bay. This way its easy to access it and connect the wiring.
