I just succeeded in the total destruction of my brand new front wheel fairing, presumably from vibration/side stress upon completing a landing at a controlled field with a stiff cross wind [14 kts gusting to 20 kts], coupled with too light a design on the internal bracing.

If anyone is able to at minimum fuss, would you kindly send me pictures of the internal bracing/brackets used on your front wheel to support the light weight fiberglass shell?

I will be redesigning something, so input is most welcome at this point.

Also, it seems that the Glasair fairing is long and of an older aerodynamic design. Has anyone purchased a fairing from another source that uses a newer tear drop design?
Recommendations?

Finally, I will be practicing my "Unable to accept the assigned runway due to crosswind limits" so that I can shout it out to the tower guy in a quick, professional manner. ;-(

Thanks in advance,

John in a GIIS

I think many people with fixed trikes have done that. To prevent that you have to keep the pressure high in the tire and the pivot bolt tight. I replaced mine with the factory fairing. My GL2S cruises around 205 mph. I think you would see a better increase by using Cirrus type fairings on the mains.
