I have a carb that even with new needle and seat and new metal float still drips for about 2 or 3 minutes after shutdown. I tried releasing the pump pressure by draining the sump right away but it still drips just as bad. It may be affecting the idle mixture also as it does not shut off the engine at lean cut off. Any help?

What is the history of the carb? Is this carb overhauled, or just the needle and seat replaced? Was the work done according to the OH manual? Was the float clearance checked between the pontoons and the bowl?

Was the clearance between the top of the float and the bowl gasket checked?

How about some more info?

Thanks for the replies to this problem. I think I may have it fixed. It was a junk yard carb (Wentworth). I replaced the float (metal) and installed one piece venturi and needle and seat. After taking it apart for the 3rd time and checking all carefully, the bail wire may have been on the opposite side and there was no gasket on the emulsion tube. Yes the needle to float clearance was right and all the bailwire adjustments were correct.
Now I just have a small amount of gas in the bottom of the airbox but no drips. I assume this is OK per reading of others experiences. Does this sound normal? It is on an 0-200.

It sounds like it is better, but still not fixed. You may not have enough torque on the seat and you may be getting seepage through the threads. There is a special tool for that and it works much better than trying to do it with a big screwdriver. Were you sure to use the gasket under the seat?

Regarding the gasket on the discharge nozzle (you called it an emulsion tube?), why was it missing? It can be very hard to see, down in the body of the bowl.
