Has anyone experimented with different props on Glasairs. When builders of Venture aircraft switched Hartzell with McCauley props they noticed a ten knot increase in speed.

I switched from -4 to -2 blades and increased my cruise on 10GPH from 203 to 210MPH on my TD. I also experimented with -8 blades to give me more ground clearance. This is the smallest diameter listed for these blades by Hartzell. I flew the set up for about 900 hours and it worked fine with unnoticeable speed change from the -4 blades. I went to the -2 blades when I changed my gear to the longer Glasair II struts.
By the way, if anyone has a ground clearance concern, I have a rebuilt hub with the -8 blades. The set up was done by Sunstate Propeller in Tampa. It is for experimental use only as Hartzell does not have an application for the -8 blades. I will sell the prop for $3500. Robin Young 286YM
