I need to remove tape residue from my wing spar. I was thinking of using Goo Gone to do it but wanted to know if anybody knows of any ill effects from doing this. Any issues? Is there something that would be more appropriate to use? Thanks.

Kerosene works on most all tape and tape glue. Wet a rag and place on the tape to let it soak in.

Haven't tried goo gone on aluminum, but Acetone works pretty good also.

Shawn

I use a product from SEM called SOLVE 38374. Available at our local auto parts store. I am also using SEM Self-etching primer.
GooGone did not cut some of the sticky stuff and seemed to leave a residue. One other thing that I like about SOLVE, the quart can comes with a long nose applicator and small cap that helps control fumes and spills.

I used MEK and Goo Gone and I found MEK to work better.
