Today my wife and family are away and the weather was PERFECT for flying, so I decided to take my favorite flight. Under the New York Class B airspace is a VFR corridor open to fixed wing aircraft. I took off from my humble airport in Hackettstown, and went under the Newark Airspace from south to north. I dropped down to 1000 feet over the Verrazano Bridge, and followed two commercial helicopters (at about 500 feet) and was followed by another helicopter, a Bonanza and a Glasair. On the north side of the corridor I emerged at the Alpine Tower (large amateur radio tower) and headed home. The whole flight took me 1.3 hours. I popped over to may favorite little runway diner at Blairstown NJ for a burger and then headed up the Delaware river to High Point State Park. High Point is the highest point in New Jersey, and sports an obelisk similar to, but smaller than, the the Washington Monument ( [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Point_(New_Jersey]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Point_(New_Jersey[/url]) ) I flew low over the river and followed all the turns and forks and climbed up over the ridge to the east side of river to come home. After a few take-offs and landings I parked the plane with about 136 hours on it.

Really awesome views Phil,
Quite different from our miles of corn. The only repeating obstructions
are more corn and the occasional bridge or phone tower.
I often fly along the Mississippi river, but see that we should take
more pictures. Very interesting!
