Does anybody know if the power cord of the Garmin 295 with the NEMA output wires is compatable with the 296?

anyone know a way to adjust the contrast so the colors don't look washed out when viewed from the left? Mine looks great from the pax seat or straight on, but almost monochrome from the left seat. Changing display to night setting helps some, giving deeper colors, but not the same colors, shifted somehow...

If there's a contrast adjuster, I haven't been able to find it and the
manual doesn't say anything about it. I have a hard time seeing mine
anytime due to glare. Anybody know there's a commercially-made glare
shield for it?

That's why they sell it with a swivel mount. So you can point it at you.

I guess the thing is made to sit straight in front or to the left of the viewer. Mine's in my radio stack, in a Panel Dock, off to my right. I'd even settle for a way to flip the display upside down...

Tried that. No joy. That's why I thought I would ask the list. Guess I'll
give Garmin a call.

Looking on page 92 here
http://www.garmin.com/manuals/GPSMAP295 PilotsGuide.pdf
Versus page 134 here
http://www.garmin.com/manuals/GPSMAP296 PilotsGuide.pdf
The plugs look very different. Nine wires versus four. So I'd say no.

I just hooked up my 296 with the wires you are describing and only used 3 of the wires. Power, Ground and Nav. The other 6 are for other than basic functions. Don't know what.
PS Larry, I cut the hole in the glareshield for the antenna. Looks good. Get well quick. If you need a ride home when you deliver NIFTY for paint let me know.
