When I happened to notice the cowling off a RV7 I spotted a small fire wall mounted battery. I told the builder I found it hard to believe it started his IO 360 engine. He said it easily did. The battery couldn't have been no longer than six inches wide and seven inches high and three inches deep. What interested me the most is that it not only cost half of a Concord battery, it weighed less than half. Has anyone had any experience with this type of battery and will it start an IO 360 200hp? The battery looked like something you would see in a jet ski.

You must mean the Odyssey PC-680 battery. They are used quite often with good results.

The weight reduction seems worth a look. It should be noted though that the operating environment exceeds the 175 degree limitation for most plastic batteries. With the size though, a vented box is sure possible.
Another good source for batteries is Band C Specialties. I just change one after seven years that was still going strong. RObin
