Hi,

I am interested in buying a used CGS hawk Arrow II 2000 to 2001 year model however this plane does not have the folding wing option which I need.

Can the folding wing option be added to this plane?

If so how easy is the mod?

Do the wings fold like a Kolb?

Does anyone have the dimensions of the plane when folded L, W, H?

Thanks,
Grant

Did you check with CGS? I'll bet Chuck will be happy to answer any and
all questions you have. This will be one sure-fire method to ensure all
answers are accurate. Especially since you rear end is in direct
jeopardy if they are not!

Good luck with your low and slow endeavor!

Yes,
I tried to get in touch with him a few times with no response.
The contact option on the website gives me an error.

I tried the phone number on the site and I got a bunch or rings and then the V mail last night and left a message with my email and ph number. Called again today at 12:30pm est and got the v mail again with a different message saying he was on the phone. left another message and still no return phone call or email as of 3pm.

Needless to say, Chuck is one of the benchmarks of ultralight aviation.
Sorry you had trouble contacting him!

If you can't get the info you are seeking, E-mail me and I'll try to get
it for you.

Thanks Red,

As I said Chuck did call me back. He did not recommend the folding wing option because its not any easier than taking the wings off plus the wings can and do get damaged when being trailered with the folding wing.
He also said that the wings can be removed or attached in 20mins .

So it doesn't sound too bad. I think kolb says 10min fold time

15 minute fold time on a kolb I have one, and fold and unfold every time I fly  I bet your looking more like a half hour on something not designed  like this

TRY a kit fox they really are a nice plane . when I first started flying I asked a Challenger owner if I could put his wing on a kolb Because I wanted a up rite motor with the best soaring wing I could get. thear is a guy building a folding option for a challenger as well. Chuck really cant promote a folding wing because they all will bend or poke a hole in something if they are operated wrong. I cant think of a folding wing plane that has cables running the flaps or ailerons. What good is a folding wing if it makes a plane too wide for a trailer?or too unstable to role around in a hanger /because you need something to hold the wing tip from dragging on the ground? malcolm michigan

RANS offers folding wings on the S-12XL. Having had several RANS
products (including the XL) I have never folded the wings. To fold them
is easy. To keep them from damage when folding is the problem! RANS will
tell you that folding is easy, securing is hard.

Kolb has been identified for may years as the "folding wing" flyer...

My current ultralight is a Rotax 277 powered MAX 103 (TEAM). There are
quick disconnects for the ailerons and four spring held pins hold the
wings on. If I just MUST remove the wings it takes 5 minutes. The rudder
and stab are bolted together and then to the airframe. This would take
time to remove, so I normally don't.
