The rotax alternator is a permanent magnet type and it has two outputs (two

yellows).  I'm guessing but these might be different phases. So

disconnecting one yellow line might still allow output to the regulator.

   No, it's a single phase alternator with yellow output

   wires. Breaking either wire disconnects the alternator

   from the regulator and shuts down the power generation

   system.



   Yes, output voltage from the unloaded alternator windings

   is high but current is zero.
