It’s a little too late for my machine, but my dad is looking at the Trutrak EFIS and I was wondering if anyone has any info on it? The website page is pretty sparse unfortunately, although it looks impressive at first glance.

Thanks,
Marcus

There is a reason the data is sparse; the unit is pretty limited in function. Its primary market seems to be to those who like the round gauge presentation of the six pack. Navigation functions are expected to be in the avionics stack. I told their rep at OSH that they would be lucky to recover the development costs. They don't seem to devote the level of resources necessary to create and maintain a EFIS product competitive with Dynon, AFS, or GRT which seem to be at their price level. They do a great job with autopilots but EFIS developers it seems not.

Just to further that a bit, they seemed to develop the EFIS at the expense of support and further development on their flagship line. The EFIS market is getting pretty thick at this point and I wouldn't be surprised to see this one be a victim in the inevitable consolidation and marketing failure of some of them. They have had a few false starts on a couple of their new products in the form of missed schedules and promises. I would stick with their autopilots as that's what they do very well. Plenty other excellent EFIS's out there for the same price or better.

All my opinion, take it for what it's worth.
