Patrick L/Gang:
Shucks! Thought Patrick had been lost in the fog in Great Britain.
But, lo and behold, here he is again.
Patrick, the best source of info on what is happening in Monument
Valley and the surrounding area can be found at the Gouldings web
site:
Gouldings is our headquarters during the Kolb Unplanned/Unorganized
Flyin. This will be the Fourth Annual KU/UFMV. So far having a flyin
that requires not work, no duties, no dues, no nothing, but to be
there and really have a great time with some other folks that build,
fly, and love our little Kolb airplanes, has turned out to be the best
there is to offer.
Everyone is certainly welcome. However, is is not a flyin for people
who are not interested in Kolbs. It is not our job to see to it that
"others" are entertained. There is no job allocated and designated
for that.
However, I am sure everyone that comes to Monument Valley will enjoy
what MV has to offer. In addition, there are a lot of other unique
places to visit in the area that are very entertaining and enjoyable,
Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Painted Desert, Valley of the Gods, Moab
with Arches National Park and Canyon Lands National Park, Las Vegas,
Death Valley, and on and on.
Gouldings has everything to offer Kolb cross country flyers, a 4,000
ft airstrip, auto fuel across the street from the airstrip, general
store, lodge, resturant, RV park, indoor pool, laundrymat, camp store,
and many, many tours that start and end at the lodge.
Hope you decide to join us. Everyone is welcome.
BTW: The weather has been perfect the last three years. We expect
the have the same kind of weather this year.
Take care,
john h

| John, does the air strip at Gouldings, have an identifier?
| Bob Griffin
Morning Bob G/Gang:
Yes it does, UT25.
Here is Airnav's info page on MV:
http://www.airnav.com/airport/UT25
Take a look at the photo of the airstrip. Looks pretty intimidating
on your first approach with that 800 foot rock wall in front of you.
However, note that the 4,000 strip is dirt with a short paved section
at the south end. If there is no traffic on the ground, the Kolbs can
land on the paved strip. The strip is low in the middle and has a
nice rise to it to the south.
Right center of the photo is the service station, snack bar, and
convenience store. Directly above the service station at up on the
foot of the mesa is the lodge, resturant, trading post museum, and
gift shop.
Take care,
john h

Thanks John. Not lost in the fog banks of Merrie England but in the mists
of time.
Cheers
