				Hi Geoff,
 There is no requirement for a battery box, but there is an implied 
 rationale for making whatever electric power device you use secure so 
 that it doesn't become a hazard to
 you or anyone. Secure attachment I think is your case.  If it were a wet 
 battery, a battery box or equal would be logically one answer. 
 Experimental tag places
 options that you have to define.  It's probably easier if you look at 
 the "requirements" as performance-based safety or common sense.

  Thanks for noticing though. what I'm looking for is criticism. Does anyone know an FAA ruling stating that a battery box is mandatory. I have not tried to research that.
