I'm no inspector but it looks pretty good to me. Where to you plan on
 mounting it?

location will be immediately behind landing gear on starbord side. I think this is per plans. In the pic you can see the angle is built into the bottom "legs"...Geoff

Geoff, this is a very similar concept to what I have
done but I haven't gone through inspection yet so I
have no idea if it will pass or not.

 Very nice simple design though.

I like the this new room. You can swing a cat around
in here without hitting a 601 builder. I’d like to
here some comments on my battery set up.
Traditionally there was a battery box over the
battery. I didn’t put one in, nor do I see the
need for one. This is a modern fully enclosed
battery. Leak proof and (according to Nuckolls) you
can drill a hole in it and not only is there nothing
to leak out, it should still work fine. (and there's
nothing back there that can touch the terminals
which will have Rubber boots on them) Attached is a
pic. My concern is that an FAA Inspector will not
like it and insist on some stupid fiber glass box (I
have one that came with my Fuse kit. By the way. I
Plans built my wings and then switched to partial
kits. After seeing the contents of the partial kit
boxes I still consider myself a Plans
  Builder……………….. Geoff Heap

				That looks cool.

My only question is about the rivet bulbs - Is the vibration of the bulbs against the battery a potential problem? Sure the thing is sealed, but could the rivets fail from the rubbing or could a crack start on the battery holder's frame?

Overall it seems like this is a great idea for scratch builders.

 Good luck!

The rivets actually just miss the bottom of the battery. They come a little closer than I meant them to.
Thanks for noticing though. what I'm looking for is criticism. Does anyone know an FAA ruling stating that a battery box is mandatory. I have not tried to research that.
