I see one model for the 701 at http://olivier.faivre70.online.fr/

Are there others and how useful (including Olivier's) are they?

What are folks' general opinion of X-Plane?

I have owned X-Plane 8 for a couple of years, and just bought a license for
ver. 9. I like X-Plane. I used it a lot to practice instrument flying
before I took my checkride. I have a 601 model that I bought a couple of
years ago. Unfortunately, the guy who wrote it sold his models to someone
else who is not interested in the 601. The 601 model works on ver 8, but I
haven't tried it on ver. 9. The new owner would no longer sell the 601 when
 I last checked with him.

I also have a freebie model of a motorized glider that has a Dynon EFIS in
the panel. Someday, when I have time on my hands, after I've built my real
601, I plan to write my own 601XL model, including the Dynon.

What's neat about X-Plane is that the flight models are much closer to real
aerodynamics than other simulators, at least that's what they claim. I
haven't used their scenery much. Most of my "flights" were in the clouds in
Flathead Valley, navigating in a (near) rectangular pattern of VOR radials
 in their C-172 model.
