Hi:

I found recently aproblem with the trim,, while on a flight, the
trim all by itself, wen al the way up in one direction.

After I push the buttom, to center needle,, a few minutes later
did the same thing..

If I recall, is always on the pitch up position...

Any one has had this problem, any suggestions to check or correct it.

this is not good..

does Van's offers a manual trim, for a flying aircraft...that could
be retrofit..?Thanks

Hi Bert,
Yes, Van does (or did) offer a manual trim for the 6 and 6A. Not sure what
the current situation is. A call to Van's would answer that question.
I have manual trim and am very satisfied.

Bert,

This problem is exactly why we developed Safety-Trim!

There are a number of issues that can cause a runaway trim condition
as you have described. Two of the most common causes are a stuck or
intermittent trim switch or a stuck, corroded, or intermittent relay that
drives the trim servo.

I had a runaway full deflection down trim condition in my Glastar that
caused me to invent, develop and market Safety-Trim. Many RV builders
have adopted our products to prevent this condition from occurring.
Safety-Trim provides runaway trim prevention by limiting trim actuation to 3
seconds at a time, additionally, it has a two speed feature that allows the
trim to move more slowly at high airspeeds and more quickly when the
airplane is at lower airspeeds.
Safety-Trim is available through our web site, through Vans Aircraft and
through Stein Air.

For all the detail on how Safety-Trim works please visit our web site.
