Bill,

Mine is painted. No problems with paint chiping. Keep in mind, that
powder coating (which will also chip) is a real pain in the you know what
if you ever need to sand it down and repaint or recoat it (ask me how I
know).

If you paint it, the color will match the rest of the plane. I doubt that
you would be able to match the color by power coating.

Besides, a plane without any scratches or paint chips is never flown and
must be a museum piece.

Mike

Please respond to Subject
rvsoutheast-list TW stinger and bracket, to paint or powder coat?

I have just posted this on the Vansairforce Forum but thought I would
ask this knowledgeable crowd.

I'm at the point where I need to do something with the TW stinger
(spring) and bracket but I'm not sure what.

Realizing that the TW spring will see some abuse (rocks, grass, dirt,
etc) and get scratched, dented, and what have you. Should I paint the
thing or have it powder coated?

What is the best form of protection?

(For the record, I have already spoken to an IA about baking the TW
spring and he doesn't think it will be an issue.)

Thanks for the help.

Bill

I like that Mike and it reminds of a comment my A&P said about why he
liked working on my T-Craft. "It was the only plane at the airport that
he had to pull the weeds out of the gear so he could service the
bearings. I know you are enjoying flying it."

As for the paint vs. powder coat issue. I'm not worried about it
matching as I'm just going to paint it black and don't expect it to
match.

Bill
