Hello all,

I would like to hear from you if you're a builder who has successfully installed and flown an alternative engine in your plane. I'm compiling a builder's roundup for Kitplanes magazine, and am looking for an installation that's flown for a minimum of 300 hours, and is currently flying.

For the builders that we profile, the magazine will also be able to pay you $100 for the write-up. I'll be at Sun 'n Fun until late morning on Friday (April 7), so if you fly in, I'd be happy to take the photos there. If not, we would also need at least 2-3 good photos, including a close-up of the engine and an overall shot of the aircraft. Additional photos would be great, and all photos will be returned. If you have digital photos, it is very important that they be high-resolution, at least 300 dpi. I have a list of specific areas to address if you'd like to participate, but we can handle that off-line. Please feel free to contact me off-line at: bootless (at) earthlink (dot) net (my despammed email address).

Thank you so much!

best,

I think all the flying customer built RV-10 are using IO-540. The only
variation you will get are 2 blade metal vs 3 blade composite props.
Some Subies and rotaries in the building stages.

Eggenfellner is delivering his first FWF packages for the RV10 in the August time frame. To the best of my knowledge there is only one 10 flying with anything other than a Lycoming and that is the factory plane, if you ask this same question near the end of the year or same time next year you will get a better response from the 10 crowd. If you are looking for input from the smaller plane crowd I would suggest you contact the yahoo list for Eggenfellener, as he has many more flying this year than he did the last time you asked.

Thanks, Larry.

I kind of thought so, but that one odd plane that's been flying its tail
off could always be out there. Smile

I appreciate the info.

best, Cory

Thanks, Dan.

I will be checking out the Eggenfellner site as well - I've been subscribed there for a while. The magazine revisits these builder roundups from time to time, so I expect that the next time around will be ripe for the 10s.
