I am building a murphy moose and installed the facet fuel pump under the pilot seat , today we hooked it up to check the amperage and it was super noisy!! is this common or does it quiet down when gas hits it?

Yes, they are noisy and they do quiet down some when fuel is in them
and they get up to pressure. But they aren't all that loud with the
engine running....

I am not familier with this pump, but typically most high performance car
racing fuel pumps will overheat and melt the seals if run without fuel. The
fuel cools them. Don't know beans about your fuel pump, but you might want
to be cautious.
