Well Henry,

You can always go to "the builder's site" http://www.dcsol.com/murphy-rebel/ there are builder/owners of Rebel, Elite and SR Series Kits.... which includes the Moose.

From what I recall, I assisted you each and every time I could.

Happy New Year.

Hi Henry,

Sounds like the Moose Project is coming along........ been following your progress (in the background) like many other people.  Yes, been gone from Murphy for 6 - 7 months; currently back there to "clean up" emails that have been overlooked.

Let me know when you're up and flying, sure would like to keep in touch.

Cheers,
Jeff

I'm not sure how stabile the Moose is but there's a video floating around
the web of a Lancair IV that started his engine sans wings. He wrapped it in
a ball. Why risk it?

Greg Young

Hi Henry,

Are you going to video your start up ?

The only Murphy start up without wings that I know of is the Rebel Radial, the wheels chocked and aircraft tail was secured.  So you can start up without wings on a Rebel, I can't say if it would be the same for the Moose.......

Cheers,
Jeff

Good luck with the start up........ hope everything goes well. Be Safe.

I definitely won't be starting it with out being tied down for sure, and I may do a video, but I'm not to good with the computer so it may take a while to get on the web. I would like to share some of my photos too. I know the best pics of the moose that I found, and the most help other than this site, is the one called 'Go Fly a Moose' and without it I would have been lost, because I am in Newfoundland Canada and haven't even seen one!!!!!

Hi Henry,

I can't believe you have NEVER seen a Moose, I read that Newfoundland moose populations are estimated between 120,000 to 150,000.

But I bet none of those Moose can fly.

Good to hear your at the engine start phase, next thing you know you'll be flyin'

Cheers,
Jeff

Just making a airbox, have any idea of the air filter needed for the moose , maybe something from aircraft spruce?? does it have to be oil soaked?

Hi Henry,

Most guys are using K & N air filters or similar performance type.  Check out K & N web site and size out your filter for your application (you're making your own box, right?) http://www.knfilters.com/search/universal.aspx

Cheers,
Jeff
