Usually, there are two to three events during the week. Last year was Mon,
Wed, and Fri, but that is subject to change. Previous years there were also
some on the Sat and Sun before.

The crowds start arriving after the airshow daily and some hang around until
early evening to socialize even on the nights without dinners. There's
plenty of opportunities to meet other RV-10 builders. Even if you just
need a place to crash and find some shade during the day, you're bound to
find one or two other builders doing the same.

Staking out of sites for this year has been completed. Our RV-10 group is located just off Lindbergh between 53rd and 54th. We are about 100 feet south of Lindberg this year rather than being right on the street. Rather than organizing our group in 2 long rows like last year, we've spread over 3 rows to keep all our sites on the high ground. The low lying areas are swampy enough that you get splashing when you walk through them. The high ground is doing well enough that Class As are parking with no issue.

We again have a large open area and have acquired 4 picnic tables and so far have 5 10x10 canopies for our community to use. The grass is pretty long in Scholler but Michael Sausen has generously offered use of his lawnmower for use by those that want to mow their sites.

Even though it has been very wet here for the last couple of weeks, the crowd is much larger than I've seen in recent years. Part of that might be because of people avoiding the low lying areas where it's still swampy.

The field is still fairly wet and they aren't yet parking planes in the normal (HBP and North 40) areas. I did however see 4 planes in the N40 area this afternoon. Most planes are along the showplane area along the hard surfaces. There isn't a specific target to start moving them but I assume that it's being figured out...

Any chance of getting a RV-10 HQ Campsite layout like you've done in previous years?

I also wanted to thank Bob, Susan, Gary, and Brenda for all the effort they put into making the RV-10 HQ happen.

thanks,

bob

For those attending OSH, attached is the tentative layout of the RV-10 HQ camping area. This year in addition to the camping crowds getting here much earlier, there is the water to deal with. In prior years folks seemed to have preference for being stretched out along a single road but with the swampy areas it just wasn't possible. The layout is tentative because folks always have the option of swapping when they get here.

I've highlighted the RV-10 group area in green to make it easy for those not camping with us to find it. We have several picnic tables and are up to 500 square feet of canopy shade space. We'll be adding another 200 square feet to that tomorrow (courtesy of Michael).

We've used our discretion in where we've placed specific people based on either camping vehicle size, consideration for tents (dry high ground), etc. For those wondering, Dave Leikam specifically requested the same site he had last year and it happened to be open but nothing adjacent to it was.

The map is not to scale but the sites for those with motorhomes are larger than those with tents and the relative positions are accurate.

Bob, thanks very much for posting the camping diagram.  It looks like I ended up with some extra space so if someone (or the group?) can use it please feel free.  We're renting a trailer from a local guy who's going to park it for us in the next few days.  Once the trailer is set up, the rest of the space is pretty much available for whatever anyone needs.

Also, I'd like to make a contribution to the group for dinners and expenses.  Please let me know how I can help.

I expect to be there Monday afternoon.  See you then,

Bob,
How are the conditions at Osh - is it real muddy? It looks like there's a lot of rain!

Yes is the short answer. It was drying out fairly well except for the low spots but now rain all day today.

.. and into the morning tomorrow. Couple more inches in the next 24 hours is the last I heard for the area. Biggest problem is the ground is saturated which is why we are once again under flash flood watches. The rivers and lakes here are up to spring levels which is about 5' - 6' higher than what we normally see this time of year.

Fortunately the forecast into next week is still holding and it looks to be a beautiful week with low humidity, temps in the upper 70's to low 80's, light breeze, and sun. Should dry out reasonably well once the rain stops Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

So does that mean you now have a large lake in your backyard? I seem to recall that there was a pond or stream adjacent to your backyard. Hopefully there is no threat of flooding at your place.

Counting down the hours......... Packing tonight and leaving tomorrow.

Wolf River is behind me but na, I'm a foot above the 100 year flood stage so it would need this kind of rain in the spring before I would have a problem. It is a bit odd seeing it this high now though.

When in Tulsa in the late 70s we had a 300 and 500 year flood in a single
storm. seven inches in three hours.
