Anyone have their landing gear wheel fairing parts,
that U-1010-L that we talked about, and not have
them mounted yet? I'm hoping to get the hole
to hole spacing measurement for the 3 bolt holes,
and maybe a tracing of the circular cutout and the
surrounding area. There's a vendor that would
like to get dimensions for a part to make it
more bullet proof, but he'd need to know the
shape, and hole spacing, so he can make a couple
 of trial runs at it.

Mine are all together and really tough to get at, or
I'd do it. But if you haven't mounted them yet,
it would be awesome to get a tracing of it.

$17 from Vans, and it would be exact.... Just a thought....

They are available from Vans at $17 each. That might be more accurate for a
 prospective vendor than a tracing.
It sounds like this is a part I would like to have somebody manufacture
 also.

That's cheaper than I would have guessed!

I did find a builder who offered to work with them
on getting the parts and checking it out, so I
think we should be set now. Cancel my request
for measurements. There's always someone who'll
 step up and help!

Or, beg Vans for a dimensioned drawing of that part......you never know,
they may give it to you.

Tim, so does that mean someone is going to fab them and then make them availabel to all of us at a reasonable price??? Otherwise, I can make them, and make them available for around $20. Was already heading down that path with Pascal.... but if someone else is going to produce them, great.

				Hey Don,

The guy that runs http://www.planeinnovations.com is planning to make
them up if he finds it practical. Phil Perry is sending him his
parts to make a test one. I think you could make them if you
wanted, and sell them. I'm not connected to planeinnovations.com
at all....I just hooked them up with the idea, and a person to
test it. I'll post something tomorrow probably to let people
know what's in the works. if you're interested in doing some,
feel free and don't let this step on you.

Heck, guess I don't have to write to the list tomorrow.
Yep, so the guy from planeinnovations.com plans to pattern
the part, and thanks to Phil for helping. With luck, we'll
have at least one supplier soon. And hey, Don, if you
still want to do it, have at it. Right now, looking at
axle extensions, there were about 2 or 3 people who
did them before I did them, and then I came up with
the design that I did....and after making a pile of
them, that very same or very similar design is now offered
by at least 3 places. So, there's plenty of room for
competition in the marketplace. Keeps the price from
getting outrageous. In this case, the parts should
be very cheap, and once you fix it, it should be a
permanent thing. My wheel fairings are really solid
 now.

That's Paul.... I actually sent him all the parts I had left... at one point.... then his daughter lives in the Sacramento area, so he flew in and I picked him up to meet up with his daughter. (that was when we still lived there) Good guy... hope he can make them... if not, he'll probably contact me.
