Pulsar people are simply the best!

John Sondgeroth in NY had the exact Earl's unit I needed and has graciously sent it my direction. Rhonda keeps saying she can't believe how helpful Pulsar people and pilots are in general. I found a gentleman with available hangar space in Searcy, AR who offered to keep the plane there and gave us full use of the facilities, tools and even his pickup.

Thanks again to all who offered to assist and again to John for parting with the piece I needed. Looks like I'll be back in the air in a few days.

Subject: Searching for Earl's oil cooler

I had to abandon my plane in Searcy, AR and drive home because we could not repair the oil cooler after the "welder" destroyed it. We tried bypassing the cooler but oil temps ran too high on a short test flight even at a very light power setting (it was 111 degrees outside!).

Thanks to several of you who responded to my pleas for help. I'm looking for an Earl's 61002 (dimensions below) which is apparently no longer in production. If you have that cooler and would be willing to part with it (permanently), please let me know. Next steps include contacting Earl's to see if they know if any of their distributors or resellers have one on the shelf. Failing there, it looks like their # 21000 could be adapted to work with a 2.5" mounting extension, though the cooling area would be only 61.5% of the original one.

Thanks again for all offers of assistance.

I'm broken down in Searcy, AR and need help figuring out which Earl's oil cooler I have. The oil cooler developed a leak where one of the fittings goes in. I had a local guy (highly recommended) weld it and it looks like a dirt daubers nest now with several leaks and pinholes. I'm trying JB-Weld but as a backup, if I have to get a new cooler sent in, I need to know the Earl's part number. If any of you have the one supplied by Skystar and could give me the part number, I would be most appreciative.

Mine is dimensioned as follows:

Fitting centers 7.5"
Height 3"
Body width at the widest points 10.75"
Face width (b/t the tanks) 6.5"
Thickness 2"
Rows 8

Thanks for any help.

For those that have never thought about it,the following narrative might help in the future.

As we were leaving SRC, Jim departed first then I followed as he was turning crosswind. I started my crosswind turn as Jim passed overhead and that was the last time I saw him. While the Pulsar can climb like a homesick angel, it sacrifices ground speed. My old clunky Centurion only climbs at 700-900 FPM but with a ground speed of 120Kts, 138MPH, so as soon as we were both downwind, Jim had climbed into my blind spot and I simply ran underneath him.

I guess I need to install a rear view mirror or camera so I can watch Pulsars. I love the plane but it is a bit slow.

Best Regards, Bill

A little slow? Yes, compared to 300 hp but I made it all the way home on 16 gallons of gas! That might have gotten you out of Arkansas!!

Nah, I climbed to 10.5K so I burned that much getting to Littlerock. I guess I did foget to mention that the Pulsar has a lot lower operating cost! Smile

On the other hand, I can carry for big adults and all the baggage they care to take.
