I too had a terrible time with my RV-7 slider. Very stiff. Its been a while but I think I ended up tweeking the forward frame curve more even after it was drilled for the canopy plastic which is a no/no due to posssiblilty of cracking that forward canopy frame arch. I had a devil of a time getting the frame to fit the rails. It was either too wide or too narrow, finally it just got better but is still a little stiffer than I would like, but it is free enough to work. Not a great design but I don't know of any way to make it better which I know isn't much help other than to know you are not alone. I suspect everbody had a tough time. perhaps you can get better help/ideas from someone else. It wasn't the roller assembly or the aft end in my case.Simply a bad fitting canopy forward frame to rail. Seems the rails were too narrow for the frame but i couldn't move them out board much due to my fuselage width. Maybe I built the whole fuselage too narrow?? Doesn't seem logical as everything else fit fine.

I am having difficulty with the canopy on my 9A. What happens is that it is essentially impossible to start it sliding from the closed position.
I thought it was the rear pin blocks that were binding, but it does the same thing with them completely removed.
If I am inside, I can get it started by slightly pushing up on the rear. From the outside, the only way is to pull up on the rear. Since the canopy rear skirts are not yet installed that is now
possible, but when they are installed it will be impossible. Once I get it to move about 1/2 - 1 inch, then it moves back easily.
I have checked everything I can think of and everything seems to be spot on, but I am obviously missing something.
Has anyone run into this problem? Does anyone have suggestions as to what I should look for?
