Hello Rob, Copied below are your initial email, my two responding emails,
and then your November 22, 2011 follow up email question regarding strut
If you go to the Guden web site and search for the struts that I presently
have on my KIS TR-1 you will wind up here:
which will give you all of the specifications on my presently installed
struts including the 30 PSI pressure.
This page will give you multiple choices among these struts:
so that you can pick struts with higher pressure if you wish.
Guden has always been very receptive to my ordering small amounts of their
products when I order by phone. 1-800-344-6437
Please let me know if I can be of further help.
Hello Rob, Here are the Guden gas springs that I have on my KIS TR-1 doors
Hello Rob, Looking at my Guden packing list from back in 02/16/2000 I
ordered two of these gas springs:
Guden Item: GGS21-030-K
...GGS21-030-K Item Detail Rod Dia: .315Tube Dia: .748 Stroke Length:
3.500Extended Length: 11.900 P1 Force: 30 ...
I have since ordered replacement gas springs, but can not be certain
that I ordered the same ones until I go out to the airport to check (maybe
One thing to consider is that the fastening points that I used on my
door frame and fuselage opening may be different from yours and that could
affect your gas spring selection. You can search around on the Guden site
for what will suit you. See here:

Subject: Door Struts for the KIS TR1
| OC, I got your email a while back for the location of your supplier for
the Struts (Guden) but I don't believe you told me
what amount of pressure you chose?
I thought I heard someone say about 35-40 lbs but I am not sure if that
was correct or if it was even for the TR1?
What did you use? I guess there is a limit at which you get too hard to
close or will not hold up the door very well
or will hold the door but will sooner than later lose the ability to hold
the door (not enough pressure to last beyond several years)?
I just took one off today to get the right size and now need to know how
much pressure to get.
Any input on this would be appreciated as I am tired of having the door
fall down on me as I am getting in or out of the
PS: just replaced the impulse mag with the latest Pmag on the Lycooming
0320 and I am now in the process of getting
it checked out before leaving the ground with it.
