I am doing the front canopy XL bolts and have a couple of Q's

1. How many washers should be between the head and nut.
The plans call for 2 washers between the 6-C3-6 and the steel 6C2-3 and then nothing till the end next to the nut..

I would have thought that there should have been a washer between 6C2-3 and the fixed 6C1-1 allowing for the rotation?

2. Also if there are only 2castle nuts why the 4 split pins?
I would have thought 1 nut and 1 pin????

3. After I drill the canopy plexiglass 5/16th holes before I put the countersink washers in place I recall someone said that I should ad rubber washers into the 5/16th hole to allow for the canopy to float around. then screww down the metal countersink.

The Canopy
Oh what fun for Christmas..

One important thing to remember is that the canopy bows should make even contact with the plexiglas along their entire length. You may have to tweak the shape of the bows to accomplish this fit.

Another thing is don't try to work on the plexiglas while it's cold, you will crack it. I guess you don't have to worry much about that where you are.

I did not use any rubber washers on my canopy and have no cracks after seven years and 360 hours of flight time. I did have some cracks form at the holes I drilled at the bottom where the canopy connects to the frame but I stop drilled them and glued them with methylene chloride and have had no problem with them.
