Hey Gang,

Just curious on you flyers...........what do the flaps do as far as performance and or airspeed and even attitude on the Pulsar? With another builders group and they were talking about the flaps and their effect on their aircraft. A long time ago I wanted to build a WAR F4U project and still have the plans but it is interesting to stay with their talk on this neat little plane.

Thanks for any input you may have!

Tom

Tom,

The flaps let you look over the nose directly at the runway as you land... it’s like adjusting the seat back in your car all the way forward.

The flaps also reduce speed dramatically & let you slip the plane for a very short landing.

The flaps are indispensable.

Tom,

They work well for seeing over the nose while landing, slowing the plane and increased decent angle on approach but they don't seem to lower stall speed that much on mine. I've landed without them down and the plane tends to float while in ground effects. Overall, I think they serve their purpose rather well.

On my Pulsar the flaps increase drag but do not add lift.
I use no flaps for take off and use 2 notches for landing.
Full flaps tend to push the nose down.
