I have seen two B & C conversions now where cracking of the generator drive housing has been a problem. This may be due to over tightening the drive assembly, or it may be due to the fact that the B & C alternator has no forward support and is cantilevered off the drive housing.
Has anyone else seen this issue? I was planning to use the lighter permanent magnet version ( 3.5 lbs vs 8 for the alternator, and goodness knows what for the original PAL generator) but I am still concerned about cracking the drive housing.
