CGS Prop blades Loose (my blade departure)

Noticed my name mentioned with respect to this topic. My blade departure was caused by a stress riser in the hub...at least that was what materials engineer I hired to look it over said. In plain English that means there was a groove in the hub that had a 90 degree corner. The Warp drive composite blade was still in good shape, even after it sliced into the float and creamed the metal nose gear retract mechanism. Here is the picture that people were referring to. I wish I had taken one when it was sitting on the ramp with the cowls on, but I believe at the time I was looking for a stiff drink and a change of underwear.

From your experience, Gary, I was prompted to install an engine-
restraining cable on my Kitfox. I recall you saying that your engine
was restrained by the battery cable and partly by the cowl if I
recall correctly. Thanks to this list and some unfortunate
happenings, we are all a little safer, I hope.

Lynn, I have the same on mine, I think it should be mandatory for all.
