Made my First flight this weekend. 6 hours now and couldn’t stop flying long enough to send this message. I fly professionally and have flown lots of neat aircraft over the last 40 years but this thing is just plain FUN!!!! No surprises, CHT’s are higher than I like however should come down. Put wheel fairings on after the fourth hour and picked up 14 knots indicated at same alt and power setting. Wheel fairings did lower CHT’s about 8-10* however now I need rudder trim.

Congrats and thanks for the info. It makes the 8 hours I just put in seem a lot more important……..I have been working on the main wheel fairings. Now if I can just get that panel finished.
First flight expected by August.
Please note I did not say what year…..

A huge congrats to you Tom. That's also great of you to report your
speed increase. You're probably the first person to do that on
first flight day after observing the speeds without fairings. I was
estimating something in that same ballpark (15-18 kts) additional
after adding mine. It's amazing the difference. Too bad they usually
take a perfectly straight airframe and set it off yaw a bit...but hey,
that's our mistakes that cause that....unless maybe it's a design
flaw...yeah, that's gotta be it.
Very good job Tom!

Tom,
Congratulations and welcome to the 50 or so flying RV-10 group. I too owned
an F33A Bonanza and would not trade back. Same or better a/s, w/fixed
gear, more room and better pay load. I experienced the same increase in a/s
and yaw (half a ball out to the right) after installing the wheel pants and
gear leg fairings - go figure.
Heading out for a week of flying up and down Baja California tomorrow (maybe
Tuesday if the low over Texas doesn't move out) for first long cross
country.

Congratulations from a Texan and RV-10 builder. My online buddy, Mark Ritter told you welcome to the 50 or so flying RV-10's but according to Van's website there are 70 or more by now.
Be sure and send in a posting with a picture to Doug Reeves to get on his first 100 flying RV-10 page.

First of all, congratulations! This is exciting news. Second of all, what type of Bonanza and how much. It'll be several more years before I get my -10 done and I've been looking for a ride until then.
