Could anyone please tell me of their experiences (or thoughts) regarding the Dynon EFIS and Engine Management instruments and allied accessories, or if anyone has installed the Dynon Pitot/angle of attack probe (or plans to) on their aircraft, as I am in the throws of comparing the Dynon with the GRT.
I thank you in anticipation for your feedback.

I really like the Dynon in all ways. It is easy to use and very stable. For the price, it is the best deal out there IMHO. Havent used the pitot yet, but am about to order the heated version for a customer. It has no moving map, although it does now display GPS info if you hook it up. I really like the D180 because the internal battery runs both the EFIS & EMS functions. Not as much need for a backup electrical system when you have the internal battery and a GPS likle the 396 with a battery also. It really isn't a fair comparison because the GRT has moving map info, but I stand behind and recommend the Dynon.

I can't comment on a RV10 Installation, but have some experience with the Dynon d-100 and d-120 in a Flight Design CTSW (LSA) that I part own.
They are very capable VFR instruments that could get you out of bother if you inadvertently enter cloud. Probably not recommended for IFR use though.
The AoA probe is easy to install, but requires calibration with several stalls. After this, it's pretty accurate, although display has a slight lag (less than 0.5 secs). Basic functions (airspeed/alt/dg/oat) agree with steam gauges, without noticeable lag.
The new software revision allows input from either (and both in a roundabout way) of a Garmin SL30 VOR signal, and GPS. This gives you a HSI display with CDI, winds aloft, fuel to destination, reserve and MPG. Annoyingly the Dynon smart avionics bus is still not fully implemented, so you have to disconnect the serial null modem to update the units.
Particularly in Aussie conditions, cooling is required - have had the screen lose colour and give a high temp warning. Cooling fans have solved the problem.
In my opinion, they are better value for money, as the GRT is also strictly a VFR unit

The Dynon heated pitot/AOA looks like a good deal, but I'm guessing that the AOA will only work with a Dynon unit, right?
Besides Advanced Flight Systems AOA, what else is out there? I've seen a vane on a few wingtips - who is that?

It will only work with the Dynon. I can't speak to the AFS system at all.
Do not archive.
