Paul
I'm impressed!! It's exciting to see the lexan in place it fills the
vision. I have been working on my doors and have messed up two sheets of
the stuff. Expensive mistakes. Tim and I found a place here in Arizona
where we got a 4x8 sheet of 1/16 in. material for $46.00

Thanks John,

I have to give credit where credit is due. Scott Swear (fergy driver) did all the cutting and fitting of the Lexan. He has been there and done that. I learned alot and feel I could do it now that I have seen it and had hands on. Cant wait to get to the shop tonight and finish the holes and peel the paper off! It's like unwrapping at christmas! Only hit one snag over the weekend...Have to tap the "tangs" that hold the left side glare sheild in place VS rivets because once it's fastened down I cant get the nose cone off and on without removing it. Should be no problem.

Uncle Craig,

Can you give me the supplier of the Lexan? We paid 146.00 per sheet 4'X8' and ran out. Had to use a used section for one of my panels.

Your price sounds WAY better plus we have the interstate to do.

Gang,

Saturday! Been bolting, drilling, moving, and hard at work since 6am! I rolled Ms. Dixie out of the shop into the sunlight for the first time today!

http://groups.msn.com/AerialWorld/kolbra012.msnw?Page=5

WOW what a differance it makes outside. Kenneth Reeves and his very supporting wife came to visit me today and he left on fire to get his Kolbra up to speed. I am posting this on a break and going back to wrap up the wing tip strobes and start the vinyl checkerboard wing tips. With any luck I might get her out tomorrow and put the wings on and fire up the 912UL for some taxi but I make no deadlines or promices.

Outside I noticed how skinny the Kolbra really is.

Side note: Mark German John Hauck and Uncle Craig...If you get this post call my cell phone please. My old phone went to the bottom of a 12' deep pool wednesday and I lost all your numbers. Rolling Eyes

ps. If the above link does not work for anyone and you want the photos E-Mail me off list or here glad to share!

GET-ER-DONE!

Gang, Charley and I moved the Interstate home today and mounted the wings on Ms Dixie. What a work out! We spent 1.5 hrs on the left wing before we got smart and cleaned the holes of excess paint before the second round! right wing took 15 minutes Rolling Eyes Only good thing to report is I lost 8lbs of body fat in the process!

Kolbers,

For those of you who are following my work on N408CP/Kolbra012 I delete photos on the MSN site daily to make room for more..thus this changes the links in previous post...SO if your keeping track and use the MSN site I use bookmark this link...

http://groups.msn.com/AerialWorld/kolbra012.msnw?Page=1

Then use the "page" button to go to the last page.

Sorry for the confusion but this is the fastest way to upload photos for me.

Regards

Hell yes, we are following your work. I was looking at your nice new smoked canopy when it dawned on me that you don't seem to have any air vents or windows to open if you need a little fresh air. I think you are going to bake. What do you think? Is there an air vent I didn't see like maybe a naca vent under the nose cone?

HA HA Scott! I have 4 of the vents that go in the lexan. I havent cut the holes yet. My buddy Scott Swear says he made the perfect tool to cut the holes so Im waiting on him.

I hit a snag last night. Hooked up the flaps and they work great, hooked up the ailerons and my push/pull tubes appear to be about 2" to long. Cant for the life of me figure this one out but will let ya know.

Ok Gang,

Solved the aileron push/pull caper. When i rigged the wings and ailerons, I used the "slider" for the flaperons and the factory push/pull tubes. After I removed the wings and moved the fuselage back into the "cool" side of my shop I did away with the sliding set up and went with the control tube through a nilyon bushing. This raised the tube about 2" and allowed me to install my home made sump for the fuel tank. I just plain forgot to shorten the push/pull tubes before painting. Rolling Eyes

Threaded rod ends should be here tomorrow and will make changes this weekend. I still need to paint the lift strut fairings so will do that when i repaint the tubes.

Well gang after a week off Im back to work on Ms. Dixie. Radio came in yesterday and we mounted it in the console last night. Also cut holes for flap push/pull tubes and checked for clearance. Looks like my guess work was pretty close!

We bought a Becker 2 1/4" radio/intercom. Looked over the wireing diagrams but the symbols appear to be in German. Anyone had any experiance with this?
