				Lowell,
Thanks for the great get together and to all the new friends with advise on my project 7/sport. I would love to fly it up there next year but I may need Walt Disney's help to make dreams come true.

Thanks to all who came to the fly-in here at Cameron Park. Jokingly it has
been referred as the third, final Cameron Park Kitfox fly-in. More than
once during the weeks leading up to the event Kay asked me if I am sure we
wanted to do this again. But it looks like we are planning another one for
next year as she is once again talking about what she has learned and how it
could be better planned for next year.

  	  | Quote: | From my perspective it was great. From my count - and counting airplanes in
a crowd is a skill I have yet to master - we had about 19 Kitfoxes and
 |
enough other experimantals and certified aircraft to make about 30 in all
(among which were several Rans of the S-6 and S-7 variety - maybe 7 total,
Three RVs, and a Sonex). I did neglected to count the cars though, and that
would have been an interesting count, as the total people count surpassed
anything we have had in the past - well over a hundred. Many of the drive
in folks were builders with a large number being those who have a
prospective interest in the Kitfox airplane. It is lots of fun seeing the
airplanes and talking to the numerous friends we have made over the years,
but it is special to meet the new folks and imagine the excitement they will
have when their airplane flys or their kit arrives.

John and Debra McBean were here as scheduled and had a good talk with a
number of interested potential Kitfox owners. Lynn Mattesen was here and it
was great to meet him and if such a thing existed in our event he
undoubtedly would have won the distance award as most of you have been
following his trip from Michigan through the South, Texas, Arizona and
 Califtornia.

Some of the local pilots went to Tuskarora, Nevada on Thursday to meet up
with some Nevada and Idaho guys and the flight of five came in Friday (I was
to have gone with them, but concern for last minute things made prudence the
better chioce). Early Saturday morning they left as a group to Jackson , a
bit South, to pick up a donated fruit salad and took a few extras with them
including myself. Their half hour trip looked to be stretching out a bit as
they proceeded to fly low and do some waterskiing and other low level stuff.
I guess it was fun to watch, but after realizing they would be gone for more
time than I originally estimated I returned home to be of more use to Kay.

I can't speak more highly of the folks that find the Kitfox their airplane
of choice. I am constantly amazed by the wonderful people this little
airplane connects together. We are all over the map geographically and as
individuals, but we all have one thing in common that often defines the
personality of someone you definitely enjoy being around.

There was one very interesting thing that happened. John Gibson, the
President of The EAA Golden West Fly-in came and spent the day just to
experience it. He was aware of our event and he had talked to me in the
past about possibly funneling our folks to Golden West or maybe using that
venue for our fly-in. It was his opinion as the day came to a close that
there is no way Golden West could provide the intimacy and relaxed
atmosphere that our event provides. And the best option would be to
continue to hold both and do what we could do to support each other. He
talked to lots of folks with the intent of finding how the larger fly-ins
could make themselves more attractive to pilots such as ourselves. Lots of
ideas were presented and he was quite receptive to the comments. The date
they were essentially funnelled into, for next year, is the second Saturday
in June - our traditional date. There were numerous issues that he had no
control over that dictated that date and beginning next year that will be
their date. With that in mind and in the spirit of cooperation, we will be
moving our date to either the first Saturday or third Saturday beginning
next year. We will have to do some thinking on that one. This year it will
begin on the last day of June and I would encourage anyone interested in
going to take the challenge. Larry and I are planning to go and John said
that if we had a count they would hold adjacient tiedowns until 10 AM. If
anyone is interested drip a note.

One other thing, somehow the Air Force was able to do three fly bys with the
B-2 Bomber in the early afternoon. Now that was an unexpected surprise -
who would have thought. Actually, I doubt they knew we were even there as
the big airshow at the former Mather Air Force Base was that weekend and we
got the tail end of their runs over that venue.

A public thank you to my wife, Kay, who does all the planning, all the
buying and all the coordinating - just about everything (if you wonder what
I do - I pick up the rented charcoal grill and push brooms). And again,
thanks to those that came, those that helped and the generosity of everyone,
as once again we made expenses with a bit to spare.

 Lowell
