As I wrote about three weeks ago, my UL202 went silent with a no problem off field landing. I thought it was time for an update.
The preliminary checks showed lack of spark, unfortunately in my quest to make sure everything else was OK I found the rear cylinder to have a fair amount of scuffing. With 177 hours on the top end and no knowledge of total time on the engine I don't think a rebuild is the smart thing to do.
My questions are, has anyone out there put a rotax on a Ultrastar? Does anyone have a used engine that would be appropriate? Or anyone have any interest in a Ultrastar without a motor?
Flying for the penniless dreamer Is taking it's toll on my mental health.

I have seen Ultra Stars flown with Subaru EA 71 engines!! Flown smartly, I think a 582 would work!! Herb

I flew an UltraStar once that had a 377 Rotax on it. I didn't look at how he mounted it though.

I'm fixing a UL II-02 that had siezed and a little honing of the cylinder liner may work for the scuffing.

I just bought an engine honing tool for $20 and plan to run that through the seized cylinder liner after I had removed the aluminum from the siezed piston that stuck to the liner using Muriatic acid.

New Kimpex piston and rings is $45 plus you can get them oversized is you need to hone a lot more.

A new cast iron liner is about $100.

I also have a Cuyuna 430 as a backup and have seen them for sale from $200 used to $1200 new and are very common and easy to find parts for.

I also plan to open up the fins on the engine to allow more airflow to the PTO cylinder, which seized. They sell modified "Flow Thru" heads like this already so I figure I would save a bit and modify my own.
