The mod calls for etching primer

What is etching primer and what does it do?

And what is ACF whateveritis that prevents corrosion? Roger told me that it
is like WD40 so is WD40 a substitute?

 Thanks

 Will

				| Will-
I had the same question but found both at Aircraft Spruce. I have in front of me "Tempo Aviation Self Etch Primer" and "ACF-50" Anti Corrosion Formula, both from Spruce. As I recall, the are less than $10 per spray can.

				| WD40 is definitely not a substitute. It degrades over a few months then
causes abrasion or corrosion or both, (as I understand, it degrades to
silica in some circumstances, particularly in electrical environments).
ACF50 or LPS1 2 or 3 are like the old Finnegan's Waxoil and leave a
 protective self healing film.

				| Ok is there a commonly available substitute for both remembering that
bringing hazmat from the US to Colombia is a little costly?
 Thanks

				| All,
I wonder if Poly Fiber's Tubeseal can be used as well as a substitute for
the ACF50. It says on the container

" containing a very fine preservative oil, mil spec. l-21260, which has a
characteristic of climbing the tube wall and spreading over the entire
surface to provide lasting protection. Prevents rust and corrosion inside
 aircraft tubing structures."

 Another set of questions:

The instruction of Mod 72 states:
" Thoroughly coat the insert with etch primer, including the bore, and allow
 to dry completely."

I am not sure about :
A- How do you uniformly coat the inside of the inserts (and probably the
inside of the tubes too) ?
B- Don't you scrape the primer off again when you drive the insets into the
tubes and therefore make the coating useless?

Wonder how others have done this.

 Regards
